How far does the incomplete of kidney function away from uremia?

 I am sure that almost all kidney patients are familiar with glomerulus filtration rate, because it is important standard for the testing that whether the function of your kidney is in a normal range!

In clinic, we generally divided the kidney function of the patient into five stages, the detailed index can be gotten by taking the following illustration as reference:

How do we define the incompleteness of kidney function? If the glomerulus filtration rate of a patient lower than 60ml/min/1.73㎡and it consists over three month, which means the function of this patient is incomplete. 

 Generally speaking, all patients with incomplete kidney function are at the third and forth stages and their condition will evolve into uremia when the fifth stage appeared.

 Which stage are you belonging to

 There is an acute problem that patient always ask me: will kidney dramatically evolve into uremia after the incompleteness of the kidney function?

 The statistic shows that the general annual reduction of the glomerulus filtration rate is 0.3ml/min/1.73㎡ and even the patient of kidney function incompleteness in the early stage, the annual reduction of the glomerulus filtration rate will no more than 0.5ml/min/1.73㎡.

Let me do accounts for this:

 We suppose that a person was checked out the incomplete kidney function at the age of 45 and the glomerulus filtration rate of him is 55ml/min/1.73㎡. Even take the highest annual reduction rate of 0.5 as the standard, the glomerulus filtration rate of the patient’s kidney will be over 45ml/min/1.73㎡ （47.5）before age 60, which is still higher than 40, so it is not that severe.

 But one important thing that I should remind the patients is that if the original glomerulus filtration rate of your kidney is lower than 40, or even lower than 30, the speed of the damage of your kidney function will be quickened and if there  accompanied with other symptoms and factors, the already quickened process will be more accelerated.
